What We Analyze

Our AI system examines multiple aspects of your DEXA scan to provide a comprehensive accuracy assessment.

DEXA Scan Parameters

Key measurements and parameters analyzed in your DEXA scan

Bone Mineral Density (BMD)

A quantitative measure of mineral content in bones, expressed as grams per square centimeter (g/cm²). Reflects bone strength and is central to diagnosing osteoporosis.

T-Score

Compares an individual's BMD to that of a healthy, young adult of the same sex. Expressed in standard deviations (SD) from the young adult mean.

  • Above -1.0: Normal bone density
  • Between -1.0 and -2.5: Osteopenia (low bone mass)
  • Below -2.5: Osteoporosis

Bone Mineral Content (BMC)

The total amount of mineral in the scanned bone region, measured in grams (g). Provides an absolute measure of mineral mass.

Z-Score

Compares BMD to age-matched controls. Useful in younger populations or individuals with secondary causes of osteoporosis.

A Z-score below -2.0 may indicate abnormal bone loss requiring further investigation.

Research-Based Approach

Our accuracy assessment criteria are based on comprehensive research and clinical studies.

DEXA scan research

Key Research Findings

  • 93% of DEXA exams contain at least one error
  • Most common errors: data analysis (79%), positioning (12%), artifacts (7%)
  • Discordance between spine and hip measurements in 38-51% of patients
  • Positioning errors can cause BMD variations of 1-6%
